The Dollar General Literacy Foundation was established in 1993 in honor of Dollar General’s co-founder, J.L. Turner, who was functionally illiterate with only a third grade education. Kellogg’s partnered with the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and created packaging, online media, and a short video featuring stories of both the recipients and the teachers in this inspiring and important program.
